and for that matter, the "object at rest" part of inertia.

trying to drag a cart full of sheep crap in absolutely saturated soil is nearly impossible.

ok. now that i've had a chance to catch my breath and re-hydrate, it's time to move the poop-filled chicken bedding that's inside their house to their absolutely disgusting over-saturated yard. it'd be nice if there was a people-sized doorway between the two to make this a little easier instead of having to put it on a cart and move it 10 feet and then unload the cart. (and then it's feeding time.)

and here i was planning on travelling to willow grove to pick up some raw chocolate bars that nature's harvest is oh-so-kindly donating to tomorrow's podcast recording. but i highly doubt i'd be able to do the chicken house, all the feeding and shower and then drive over to willow grove by 8 pm. i guess i'll just have to go up before the recording tomorrow. (ohgod, we're going to be late again, i can just see it now.)

next on the agenda is to find a participant who lives/works/plays and or travels through willow grove, so they can be our "nature's harvest contact" guh. i am not looking forward to going 2 hours out of the way for a few chocolate bars. why did i ever get myself into this mess? (at least they sell sheese. gonna get mahself some o'dat. OHYEAH!)

i got the job, i got the job, i got the job!

she was waiting for my references to get back to her, and only one had gotten back (a guy i used to work for back in 2001-02), and as soon as she hung up with him, she called me and offered it to me.

[info]suthrncan did you keep getting a busy signal? :-( (i don't think she has call waiting. which leads me to believe she doesn't have the internets either.)

so that means, co-mods, feel free to bring on more help if you need it. it'll only be until mid-september. (the job goes til very early sept, and then we're going to the west coast immediately after) particularly [info]vegancooking, unless you guys can handle the queue yourselves. (or retired mods, if you wanna come back for a few months, that'd be lovely.)

YAY!!!

on friday afternoon, less than a half hour before we were planning on leaving for Massachusetts, sadie came in with a 2 inch gash on her right front leg. we brought her to the vet, and they had to put her under to sew her up. :-( so she came home with a pink bandage on her leg and was still waking up. we were waiting in a room near where she was waking up, and they let her cry for a half hour before we got to hold her. (is that freaking normal? geez!) p.s. it was 400 dollars to fix her up. ouch!

so for the rest of the night, she didn't have control of her muscles, so she went to bed without going to the bathroom. :-/ she leaked a little on the crappy comforter. at least it was the crappy comforter, and not the nice one. we were told she was intubated, so might have a sore throat, so we gave her some pumpkin puree for breakfast with her pills. i cooked lentil and carrot soup to feed her later in the day. i soaked some of her kibble and mixed the soup and some more pumpkin with that.

she hasn't eaten any of her hard kibble, so i don't know if she's just being a diva, or if her throat is still sore. we have more soup, so we'll give her that for breakfast tomorrow. tonight we took off her bandage, and for some reason there was a strip of tape doing nothing but sticking to her fur. she got angry when scott pulled it off. it took a lot of fur off. (what moron puts a 4-5 inch long piece of tape on a leg that's covered in fur? a piece of tape that does nothing in fact? nothing but distress a dog that already had enough done to her leg already? geez! we're going to look for another vet in the area.)

i hope she gets over the whininess. i'm afraid she realised that we were very lovey dovey on friday and saturday whenever she whined, so hey, i'll keep whining. i'll get soup out of it! hahaha.

she's such a tough girl though. she didn't show any sort of pain before we brought her to the vet. all of a sudden there was blood on scott's pants after she greeted him.

anybody know how to forward hundreds (thousands?) of e-mails from one gmail account to another?

i made filters for all future e-mails, but it'd be nice to have past e-mails be over there too.

::edit:: http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/batch-forwarding-old-gmail-messages

:-) yay!

the fact that you have to unscreen a comment in order to reply to it.

why does LJ not realise that there might be instances where a user would want to protect the identity of a commenter while responding to their comment. GAH!

when i went to the doctor to see about my hair loss and other random things, he sent me to get a blood test/urinalysis, and everything came back ok except he said i had blood in my yellow stuff. (turns out i went to the labs a few days before aunt flo arrived. so i "have to go" again in a few weeks)

but he kept going on and on about my cholesterol, which was 118 (i guess it didn't sink in to his brain that i don't eat anything that contains cholesterol. heh.)

but the good thing is that my thyroid levels and B12 were fine. (as was my kidney and liver and blood counts) so at least i don't have any hypothyroidism or anything. i guess the hair loss is just from my heavy bun after all. i hope it comes back. it's so weird. it's all concentrated just to the right of the center of my forehead. i have figured out a way to tie my hair to spread the weight through to all of the strands. (an actual knot in my hair and the ends are wrapped around the knot and secured with the band) the bun in my icon is from 3 years ago, so it's much bigger now.

i made a post on a reeeally long hair community asking for advice, and i got some really really cute ideas. i just wish i wasn't lazy. haha.

so i guess in a couple weeks i'll know if i really do have bloody pee.

so... on the day of our rehearsal dinner (3 and a half years ago) my sewing machine had some part inside snap. i haven't brought it to get repaired, and i was planning on doing so. but my mom (embroidery nut) told me her first embroidery machine was languishing in my sister's (walk-in) closet.

so. she (mom, not sister) totally told me i could have it. so not only can i now sew the shiitake that has been piling up for 3.5 years, but i can add flourishes, and i can also program it to embroider patches or other designs on to pretty much anything!!!! w00t w00t!

and i can do some cool stuff and possibly sell it on etsy too. yay for extra income. yay for family members who upgrade!

i've made a terrible decision to test cookie recipes for 2 different cookie cookbooks at the same time. *looks angrily at scale*

so if you want a care package, e-mail me your address. (supercarrot at gmail) and maybe some time in the near future a box of cookies will show up on your doorstep.

luckily the one book is wrapping up in the next month, but that means i'll probably be baking a lot from that book in the next few weeks. (the other book still has a ways to go, so i can space those out a bit)

p.s. if you have allergies, lemme know

hey, can you guys go to change.org and vote on financial support for small/beginning farms? this would make it so much easier for us to start a farm. (dude!)

as well as appointing an organic friendly head of dept of agriculture? thanks. <3

and if your belief system allows it, stop animal agriculture subsidies. (if they're not subsidizing veggies, why subsidize non-veggies? everything should be sold at the price it takes to produce. why should our tax money be hidden in the price?)

thanks! i love you all!

we just saw this last night! it was amazing!!!!!!

it's like this generation's rocky horror. (too bad lionsgate can't see it for what it is. they're totally embarrassed by it.) i'd be willing to bet 1/3 of the crowd we watched it with were dressed up as characters from the movie. it was so fun!

and paul sorvino came down from scranton to talk with the crowd too. he had to leave after the Q&A, so we didn't get his signature, but we got the signatures of darren lynn bousman and terrance zdunich on a little poster card.

they have a website up (http://www.repo-opera.com/) so check if there's a showing near you, but if not, the DVD is going to be coming out on jan 20th. (blu-ray too) they were talking how amazing it looks on blu-ray, since they recorded it in HD. (and they recorded everything in one month!!!!)

they said if there's enough demand, they might even be able to have a few stage shows.

they also said that if you need to find carpool mates, sign up at their forum and find them there. go see it, it's totally worth it!

and all i get back are spam responses. (http://southjersey.craigslist.org/clo/914930904.html)

this one was particularly well thought up. i have a feeling that e-mails that come from live.com are all spammy. cause i've never heard of it before, and got 2 e-mails already from spammers using a live.com address.

well, it sounded like it could have been legit, except for maybe the ASAP thing. )

i'm considering cutting it up and sewing it into bags that i would try to sell on etsy.
first i guess i'll bring it to a consignment shop and see how much i can get for it.

this one was however, the best one recieved yet.

haha, our neighbors are setting off fireworks. :-)

earlier you could hear a roar of cheering from tons of voices, and collingswood's volunteer fire siren was going off.

and before that, we tried to go to a restaurant (for our 3rd anniversary) that we had a restaurants.com "gift card" for, and it was closed. luckily the restaurant next door was open, and we could use the coupon there too (owned by the same people)

as soon as we paid the check, the lights went off, and the busboy got to his car faster than we did. haha.

if you were planning on buying webhosting, dreamhost is giving away bonuses for their 11th birthday. (unlimited disk storage and bandwidth) http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html

if you decide to go for it, i made some promo codes.
they're all for free domain registration. if you want one for a free unique IP, just let me know, and i'll make that too. ::edit:: ok, it's supercarrotip

supercarrot1 will give you 1 extra free domain (for a total of 2, cause they give you one free anyway even if you didn't have a promo code)
supercarrot2 will give you 2 extras, and supercarrot3 will give you 3 extras. (if you honestly need more than 4 domains, lemme know, i can make promos with up to 6 extra domains, but then i don't get very much in return for referring you, and you want to help me too, don't you? *puppy dog eyes*)

and if you miss the window for the unlimited disk/bandwidth, i can make promos with increments of 10% extra bandwidth and disk space as well, just let me know what you want. (and if you want a mixture, say 1 extra domain and 10% extra bandwidth and 10% extra disk space, i can do that too. just gimme your desired recipe, and i'll cook it up for you. except free unique IPs are expensive, so that'd have to be alone, or at least with only one of the other extras.)

each 10% of disk space or bandwidth that i'd give you is worth $9, each lifetime domain is worth $15, and each unique IP is worth $30, so use that in calculating your coupon recipe. (i can only give you a coupon worth up to $90, but then i only get 7 bucks for referring you. :-) bleh. so in essence, this is the crappiest pyramid scheme ever, so don't be concerned that i'm taking advantage of you, cause i'm giving much of my referral bonus to you in these coupons. heh.

p.s. they're green too.

yesterday we decided to sign up with dreamhost for my podcast and book projects. i found a promo code that gave us $50 off and 3 extra free domains, so i registered http://veganreview.info*, http://veganroadtrips.com*, http://supercarrot.com and my last one will probably be for my baked goods business. there's nothing on the websites yet, but at least we have them and can now start doing stuff (now i can't say that's the source of the procrastination)

and we've been playing rock band 2 pretty much all day long. it's much better in the talky parts recognization than RB1 was.

*damn godaddy had veganroadtrip (in the singular) and veganreview.com parked with empty websites. that pisses me off. it sure seems to me that they do this shiitake on purpose. sneaky petes.
